Interested in helping the homeless?
In 2013, 126,714 individuals in need walked through the doors of the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. Each month, the Day Center serves an average of 10,560 individuals.

volunteerBelow is a list of general volunteer positions. Call our volunteer coordinator at (918) 583-5588 ext. 225 to discuss our current opportunities and needs.

 

Front desk assistants
Must be willing to learn to answer a multi-line phone and serve three hours weekly for a minimum of six weeks. All volunteers at the front desk must be at least 18.

  • Greet clients and visitors
  • Answer phones
  • Distribute mail
  • Answer client inquiries

 

Shower desk volunteers
Must be at least 18

  • Provide clients with towels and toiletries

 

Clothing room volunteers
All volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Sort, size and stock clothing donations for clientsโ€™ use
  • Keep toiletry items filled for clients use

 

Organizers
Must be a self-starter and organized

  • Keep household donation area in order
  • Create household boxes for newly housed clients

 

Client computer assistant
Must be at least 21 with a basic understanding of computers

  • Set up computers for clients to use when applying for jobs
  • Help clients with technical problems

Kitchen assistant
Must be friendly, reliable and food handler permit is preferred, but not required

  • Greet groups and individuals bringing food donations and serving meals
  • Clean and organize kitchen area

 

Health clinic staff

Must be a registered nurse to provide care. Reception desk volunteers are needed as well but do not require medical training.
